Quality

Greiner and quality

By being ISO 9001 certified, Greiner S.p.A. strives to ensure that all of its activity is in compliance with the environmental legislation called "Environmental Management Systems" (ISO 14001).

The precondition of the quality of Greiner products lies in their design. It uses a large number of patents, some acquired from clients and others conceived by researchers within the company. There are certain assembly processes, such as that of the ball valve, that continuously interest experts because of the special automation processes involved. Greiner entrusts inspections to sophisticated machinery, which is the final seal of guarantee. For some components, all product inspections and checks are carried out in compliance with reference standards (harmonised standards such as UNI, EN, or specifications issued by clients) and with internal specifications.

In particular, the quality inspections are as such:

Incoming goods inspections
Visual and dimensional inspections are carried out on components destined for product assembly. Inspections on galvanic coatings (chrome and zinc) are also carried out when required.

Production Inspections
Statistical process control (SPC) is applied during production through the elaboration of inspection charts, as regards the mechanical machining department. Data is collected from the machines that is then sent to the technical production department or the quality control department.

In the assembly department, endurance tests are performed on automatic inspection machines inserted in the assembly line (in this case the inspection is at 100%). Immersion and manoeuvrability spot checks are also carried out.

Visual and quantity inspections are carried out at the end of the assembly line, and then the products are placed in the warehouse.

Greiner has its own laboratory equipped to carry out quality inspections with over 2000 registered instruments. The instruments used are mostly gauges, manometers and fixed calipers. There are also comparators, altimeters, hardness testers, hardness testers for rubber, magnetic thickness gauges to inspect galvanised coatings, a microscope, a tensile strength tester, two wear test devices for ball valves, a test bed for counters, and some torque wrenches.

Instruments and relevant calibrations are managed by a specific software.
